*PBoC: The cumulative increase in social financing scale in the first eight months was cny 21.9tn, which is cny 3.32tn less than the same period last year. Jan-Aug new RMB loans was cny 14.43tn, and the previous value was cny 13.52tn. August M2 balance was cny 305.05tn, up 6.3% y/y.

*National Bureau of Statistics: The total retail sales of consumer goods in August was cny 3872.6bn, up 2.1% y/y.

*National Bureau of Statistics: Jan-Aug national fixed asset investment reached cny 32938.5bn, up 3.4% y/y.

Xi’s Emphasis

*QIUSHI magazine published an important article titled “The Speech at the Second Plenary Session of the 23rd Central Committee of the CPC by Chairman Xi Jinping”, which proposes to expand domestic demand, develop new quality productive forces in light of local conditions, accelerate the cultivation of new growth drivers for foreign trade, and take solid steps to promote green and low-carbon development.

 

Industrial Economy

*Administration for Financial Regulation issued a notice on promoting non-bank financial institutions to support large-scale equipment updates and trade-in actions for consumer goods, which proposes to encourage the appropriate reduction of down payment ratios for automobile loans.

*Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the “Several Measures for Further Promoting the Development of Private Economy by the Ecological Environment Department”, which support enterprises in technological upgrading of various production equipment and air pollution control facilities.

*General Office of the State Council issued the “Opinions on Practicing the Great Food Concept and Building a Diversified Food Supply System”, which proposes fourteen key tasks in three aspects.

*Ministry of Education released the “2024 Announcement of Application Materials for Undergraduate Professionals in Ordinary High Schools”, with 535 new majors involving football, cyberspace security and health and medical security.

*National Network Information Office issued notice and publicly solicited opinions on the “Measures for Artificial Intelligence Generating Synthetic Content Marking”.
