– On February 28 local time, the United States and Israel launched an airstrike against Iran, resulting in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei. Iran carried out missile strikes on Tel Aviv, Israel, and multiple U.S. military bases in the Middle East were also attacked. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
 
– Sources: Eight OPEC+ member states have reached an agreement in principle to increase oil production by 206,000 barrels per day.

– Sources said that Dongchedi, a subsidiary of ByteDance, is considering an IPO in Hong Kong to raise $1 billion to $1.5 billion. In response, both Dongchedi and ByteDance stated that they would “not comment for the time being”.

– In January, 5,306 new foreign-invested enterprises were established in China, up 25.5% y/y; the actual use of foreign capital reached 92.01bn yuan, down 5.7% y/y.
 
– In 2025, China’s GDP was 140,187.9bn yuan, up 5.0% y/y. Gross national income was 139,370bn yuan, up 5.1% y/y. At the end of the year, China’s total population was 1.40489bn, down 3.39mn compared with the end of the previous year.
